
The 4th Annual “Festejando Nuestra Salud / Celebrating Our Health” Spanish language health fair and community celebration was held on Sunday, October 10th, 2010. The event was at College of the Redwoods Main Campus, 7351 Tompkins Hill Rd, Eureka, California.
Festejando Nuestra Salud health fair is in honor of Binational Health Week (October 4-15th). Binational Health Week is one of the largest efforts in the Americas to improve the health and well-being of the underserved Latino population living in the United States and Canada.
Some highlights of the 2010 Festejando Nuestra Salud health fair include:
- · Free health screenings for diabetes, cholesterol, high blood pressure, Hepatitis C, HIV and eye exams
- · Vaccinations for whooping cough and tetanus
- · Over 40 programs with health information and community resources offered in Spanish and English
- · Activities for children, including pony rides and arts & crafts
- · Bike safety lesson for kids and free bike helmets
- · Free gifts, food, music
- · Approximately 500 community members attended this year
- · Close to 100 people volunteered at the event: As interpreters, set up/clean up, food servers, and more.

Festejando Nuestra Salud is an opportunity to bring diverse community members together to work on a common goal: Improving access to health information and services to Spanish-speaking community members.
